Megan, writer of the Book Birds blog, did some bookish community service for us.
She created a complete list of YA book releases in 2018 — and publishers or agents can ask her to include their book if it isn’t listed by sending her a quick email. This is an invaluable resource for book bloggers, publications and readers alike!
“I needed to plan my book buying in advance and I couldn’t find one resource where I could see all of the books coming out by month,” Megan told Fictionist. “I initially started thinking I would only use it myself, but once the list passed about 50 books I thought others might find it useful.”
I FINALLY FINISHED IT! I've made a complete list of all YA 2018 releases for your enjoyment: https://t.co/dbgKvvOXPx! 📚 💖— Megan (@Book_Birds_) July 23, 2017
Megan spent about five weeks compiling the list, she said, and used a lot of information from Goodreads and other online resources like author and publisher websites. When Megan was almost through, though, disaster struck. The list was almost abandoned completely.
“At one point, whilst I was on holiday and the Wi-Fi was slow,” Megan wrote to Fictionist, “I accidentally deleted about half of the list and messed up the formatting in the other half. I became so frustrated with it that I (was) ready to give up. I turned to Twitter and Facebook, asking if I should continue, and the response was amazing, with lots of people suggesting books to put in the list. So I’m also indebted to those who contributed for pushing me to continue with (the list).”
A huge thank you to Megan and everyone who helped her finish her master list of 2018 releases. This list will make life easier for a huge amount of the bookish community.
Megan’s blog, Book Birds, started fairly recently. Originally, Megan was a BookTuber, but found that she didn’t love being in front of the camera. So, in 2016, Megan attended the American Library Association Annual Conference, and she said the many book bloggers in attendance took her under their wings (no pun intended).
“I posted my first post on Book Birds as soon as I got home,” Megan said, “and I’ve been blogging ever since. I love it so much and I’ve made so many lovely friends.”
After reading thorugh all of 2018’s YA releases, Megan has to have some most anticipated reads, right? Right.
“My most anticipated 2018 releases would have to be sequels to my favourite 2017 books,” Megan wrote. “Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor, and Darkcross by Marie Lu.”
Twitter already loves Megan’s list:
