1. I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski
Sydney is a 19-year-old college student about to embark on a four-and-a-half week trip across Europe with her best friend Leela. The thing is, the trip was super last-minute because Syd is actually replacing Leela’s (now ex-) boyfriend on the trip. 2. Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy
Because You Love to Hate Me is an anthology with stories from acclaimed authors like Victoria/V.E. Schwab (This Savage Song, A Darker Shade of Magic), Marissa Meyer (Cinder), Susan Dennard (Truthwitch), Renee Ahdieh (The Wrath and the Dawn), Soman Chainani (The School for Good and Evil), and Cindy Pon (Want). If those authors don’t sell you enough: It’s an anthology in which 13 YA authors join forces with 13 BookTubers to re-imagine fairy tales from the perspective of the villains. We don’t know about you, but we want this book yesterday. You can get your hands on it July 11!
3. The Waking Land by Callie Bates
Lady Elanna was raised by the King. Which seems cool, except that he died under mysterious circumstances. And she stands accused of his murder. She is forced to return to the homeland she left behind a long time ago. She’s trapped between loyalties when she ends up leading a rebellion against the kingdom she once called home. This YA fantasy technically comes out at the end of June, but we say that’s close enough to July.
4. Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody
This book isn’t just a fantasy. It’s part fantasy, part mystery-thriller, and completely intriguing. The Gomorrah Festival is always burning — it’s an eternally smoldering city, and it’s also a traveling city. The entire festival packs up and moves from city to city, playing a mysterious hand in the shaping of the world around it. Sorina, an illusion-worker, strays away from her goal of learning how to run the Gomorrah Festival when a member of her family — who are all illusions — is brutally murdered. She is forced to re-evaluate her illusions, which are now real enough to be murdered, and find a way to protect the rest of her family. Get it July 25!
5. The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy
Sterling is a pretty strange place. Every seven years, the experiences that weave life together just… disappear. Things like the ability to dream, or the scents of flowers. No one knows why, and no one knows what will disappear next. Aila has to unravel the Disappearances, and in doing so, learn about her mysterious mother. Read it on July 4!
6. The Last Magician by Lisa Maxwell
This fantasy is set in modern-day New York, where magic is almost extinct. Those with magic keep to the shadows and hide. To make matters worse of the Mageus people, there’s a barrier around Manhattan that will trap them there without their powers if they cross it. This story follows a thief who has to travel back to 1902 to destroy the artifact that doomed the Mageus to a hopeless future. Follow the story on July 18!
7. The Library of Fates by Aditi Khorana
This YA fantasy follows a princess who sacrifices herself for her people. She gives up everything, including her freedom, but it’s not enough to save her kingdom. She end up a fugitive, and has to go on a quest to find the mysterious Library of All Things to try to reverse everyone’s fate. Own it on July 18!
8. All the Ways the World Can End by Abby Sher
Eleanor, or Lenny, feels like the world is ending. Her dad has cancer, her friend is moving, and she’s stressed out. She’s dealing with the stress by making a list of every possible way the world could end — and by stockpiling supplies in a bunker. Plus, she has a few romantic misadventures. Own this book on July 11!
9. Lucky in Love by Kasie West
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to win the lottery, this contemporary YA romance is for you. Ultimately, this is a story about how money can only complicate things, especially love. Get your copy July 25!
10. Amid Stars and Darkness by Chani Lynn Feener
This book is described as a sci-fi/fantasy “space opera,” and honestly, sign us up already. It follows Delaney, who gets mistaken for an alien princess runaway and gets kidnapped and forced to impersonate the alien princess until she’s found. If she messes this up, it’ll lead to a war and the enslavement of the human race. So, no big deal. Get it on July 18!
